Fun in Artek
Created in the Crimea of the Soviet era as a place for the best-of-the best pupils under 16 year old, a scout (pioneers’) camp Artek was a show-window of happiness Soviet children supposed exemplifying worldwide.
Pure communist propaganda did omit a reality of getting places in this retreat on the Black Sea shores, available mostly to the KGB/Communist authorities- approved kids of ruling bosses and some working class representatives internally and, later, for their mates’ offspring from around a globe.
After disintegration of the USSR, this place located in a picturesque area of the Ukraine became a prey for fast-partitioning a state property Mafiosi of an ex-communist still-ruling gang, and only subsidies of the Russian and Ukrainian governments allowed to re-open once again this iconic children camp after a short unspeakable closure in first time of its 70 years of operating (I am not utterly sure, it seems, during Second World War German authorities kept it running for their Nazi propaganda either).
Recent modern Ukraine openly heralded cases of local paedophilia having occurred occasionally, but prior to oncoming elections, hot news of deploying Artek as a sex-playground for the Verhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) Members steadily sounds as a huge blast in dirty political games adult politicians exercise with underage population regardless of voters’ age factual.
I will keep readers informed on this saga as more media info in English to appear.
